I've an '02 ST170.

Replaced the clutch and release bearing about 3 or 4 months ago. Used original ford parts for this.

Everythings been fine since.

This afternoon, whilst driving the car for the first time today the clutch got very stiff and had about half the travel. It seemed like the first part of the clutch pedals travel is really light. In fact it feels like it's more or less loose as if connected to nothing, Although it does come back up on its own. It also has some kind of clicking/catching to it, as if it is getting caught on something and you are puching it past it, I maybe describing this wrong, I'm bad at that lol.

Then the clutch pedal gets really stiff and the biting point is quite low. The clutch engages fine, there is no slipping or anything. It goes into all gears as normal. After a short amount of time, the light first phase of the pedal travel went and it was stiff most of the way down. Biting point is still really low. That rough/catching on something feel to the first part of the pedal is still there.

I must point out I had only been driving for 5 minutes. Maybe a minute or two more if it matters. Total journey time from when I first encountered this problem was about 15-20mins.

I've checked the master cylinder fluid and it's at max.

I'm gonna be really annoyed if I have to spend another shed load of cash on it!
