Default remote central locking

Bit of a dumb one this... my mother has just been told by the local parts place that if she replaces the (dead) batteries in her Mondeo's remote fob it'll reset her immobiliser and she'll need to take it up to Ford to be set back or something I don't see why it should... but she won't chance it until she can speak to an 'expert'. Any comments? If I go ahead and change them and it does cock it up, my old man will kill me.

my dads was the same, youve got so many seconds to change them before it loses the code,i think you have to reprogram with the red key, and turn the ignition on/off etc but cant remember the sequence, some one on here should know it though, nick

Glad I never touched it then...

But surely if the last batteries went dead then it would have reset itself anyway? Oh well. I'll let her and Mr. Ford deal with it. Cheers...
