Hi,
first post on this site!
using a 1.8d endura mk4 fiesta(1996 n reg) as a runaround.
the other day my brakes pedal went hard and the brakes hardly work now.
no noise coming from them.
the haynes manual suggests that it could be the servo or vacuum pump.
when the engine is off the brake pedal stays hard. I have depressed the pedal when off and the pedal does not move/give in when I start the ignition.
Just wondering if anybody knows how I can check if it is the servo or the pump that is faulty.
I can see used servos on ebay for mk 4 petrol engines -
can I use any mk4 servo? or is the diesel one specific?
thanks

hi, I removed hose that connects from servo to vacuum pump today. hose was fine(has a hole patched up with insulation tape lol ) and the check valve seems to be fine. i.e I can blow air through hose only in one direction(from servo end) - but I had to blow fairly hard - not sure how much effort is needed? and I put my hand over the vacuum pump and hardly felt any suction??? how much suction is generally supposed to come out of it? it just about had enough to hold on to a thin rizla paper but not much more... help ! I've got a feeling it is probably the vacuum pump thats faulty , but just wondering if anybody has any ideas?
thanks
thanks
