Unhappy focus heater/blower problem

Hi guys. I know this has probably been asked countless times before, because it seems a common problem, but the blower is not working on my 2000 1.6 Focus as it should. The blower comes on on all settings, but it doesnt throw out enough air through the vents(fully open). Also the air con isnt working even though the light comes on. Are these two linked. I havnt done any investigating as due to work load I just havnt got the time. There are no strange noises when the motor is on, but no matter what setting it is on it just seem to blow out the same amount of air(even when it is on setting 4, it the air doesnt reach the driver or passenger. Also the right hand drivers vent is a very small trickle of air coming through.

Please help, because the only real way to keep cool is to open the windows.

The common problem lies with the resistor packs that burn out, however this isn't the case with you as your blower works on all speeds, it sounds as if the air ducts may be blocked up with debris such as leaves etc, is it left under a tree?

Is it better in other directions, I.E footwell or screen?

The A/C almost certainly needs regassing, the light will still come on but it won't actually work, there is a pressure switch built into the system, when the pressure drops it stops the A/C from working to stop any damage, you will also find the cooling fans do not work when switched on either which they should do.

It actually performs better when directed to the screen, so at least that keeps clear.

I have been meaning for a while to get the air con re-gassed, but I would like to know on average I would be charged!!!? I just don't want get ripped off, but if I've got some idea.

I shall have a look to see if the vents are blocked definitely. Cheers.
