xr4x4 diff with 4x4 gearbox?
if it is a 2.8 or 2.9 4x4 the ratio is 3.62 and the rear diff is a LSD. If the diffs are from a 2.0 4x4 they a 3.9 ratios and the rear is not a LSD
But to answer your question - yes you can

the gearbox and diff will have the same ratios mate or else you will overheat the viscous coupling in the transfer box. therefore you cant change the rear diff ratio without changing the front diff ratio or transfer box ratio.
2.0 4x4 rear diff is lsd....
as long as front and rear diffs are the same ratio all should be fine..
the 3.92 is a gearchange nightmare , great acceleration but not so good top end , mpg will suffer both on town and motorway..

the 2.0 4x4 isnt a LSD, people think it is as it has the bolt on shafts. I have had 4 of these and not one of them has been a lsd.
Fords were saving money at the time and didn't fit a lsd in the 2.0 4x4!!!!!!

i had a 2.0 litre with an lsd but who is to say it was original? 20 year old car with unknown history and a million owners...
the 2.0 is virtually the same as the 2.9 with different ratios, , if no lsd how is 4x4 achieved??
the service literature and the 4x4 dohc both state it has a viscous coupling in the rear diff...
i have had more than my fair share of 2.0 4x4's , in some the coupling was u/s so gave the appearance of not being lsd.....

i fitted 3.9 diffs to an escort not long ago and it wasn't lsd,
but it may just have been pumped, i assumed it wasn't lsd
All Sierra and Granada 4x4 rear diffs have LSD, regardless of engine (except Scorpio from 1994 onwards as that had an open diff but electronic traction control).
I have a 2.0 DOHC 4x4 with an LSD as standard using a 3.92 ratio (even says it in the Ford literature, repair manual, parts catalogue, spec list as detailed on the production line).
I also have a 2.9 4x4 rear axle with LSD using a 3.62 ratio sitting in the garage for my other halfs 2000e.
Also, I'd would recommend listening to Mick. Between him and Dojj, they have probably taken apart more Sierra and Granada cars and diffs than most Cossie owners have broken.

for christ sake only 2.8 and 2.9 4x4 have a rear lsd (sierra or granada)
forget what the literature says. The literature even says a 2.0 efi pinto uses a steel crank shaft - it doesnt.
If in doubt speak to barra, gears or cts.
