urgent advice needed
i went to look at a lovely 4x4 saff today, everything about the car was perfect, the bloke took me for a run up the road and i was shocked by how well the car drove. but when we come to a roundabout as he was cornering there was a rumbling/vibration going through the car, felt a bit like when you run over rumble strip on a motorway. he said his mates escort cos does the same and he was a really sound bloke and he's owned the car for 7 years and says it has always done it. i really really want the car but i'm just a bit concerened its something serious. if it makes any difference the car is lowered on 17's with quite low profile tyres on. advice guys????????

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Have the car checked over by someone who knows what a cossy is.
Maybe it will cost you some money, but in the end it will safe you money if there's a real problem with the car. Never believe what a private seller tells you.
Sound like a problem with drive shaft(s) to me.
Same vibration also on normal corners? What speed where you doing at that moment?
And you should ALWAYS drive the car YOURSELF before buying.

Drive it yourself, maybe then you can feel what the problem is.
You can then also feel the clutch and the brakes.
After that if you still want to buy it, get it checked over by a professional with knowledge of Cosworths. Also check engine compression and have a leak test done to see how the valves are.

eh? theres nothing wrong with the engine and the car is amazing. is this the common 4x4 driveshaft problem? or maybe worn engine mounts maybe? how reliable are front diffs? and what are the symptoms of a failing one? this car drives perfectly, no knocks, bangs, whines or rattles

It could possibly be the front dive shafts are too long, usually taken from an xr4x4. I had one on my escos and it made noises if you went round a left hand bend. Ask him if the have ever been replaced for some reason
