Question Trouble with TDCI 130 engine cutting out.

Hi all.

I have been having a problem with my engine cutting out. When the car runs it is great. It starts first time with no noise or chugging or smoke. The problem is it will run for a couple of hours or a minute I just never know. The engine diagnostics has shown up the following DTC's P1211 and p0251. The mechanic looking at the car has done a leak off test and doesn't think it is the injectors. He doesn't think the problem is the fuel pump as the live data shows the pressure running right up to 1400 bar. So far he has changed the following :- Cam sensor, Fuel rail and sensor, and the inlet metering valve. Tonight he is checking the wiring harness for any shorts or bad connections.

Does anyone here have any experience of a similar problem or have any suggestions as to what to try next.

Any help or suggestions gratefully received as I have had two weeks off work already and can't afford to be off too much longer.

p1211 =
icp not controllable,pressure above desired

these engines have problems with the camshaft position sensor, normally puts the glow plug light on and cuts out the engine, they are around 15 quid to buy. you may have fitted a faulty one
