this might help mate.

WIRE COLOUR/S Function

Red/ Blue (Permanent +ve) (Thick Wire)
or 2 black wires on a 3 Door Engine loom
Black (Ignition +ve) (Thick Wire)
Black/ Red (Fuel Pump Feed) (Thick Wire)
Green (Rev Counter Trigger)
Brown/ White (Temperature Sender)
Brown/ Green (Oil Pressure Sender)
Brown/ Red (Engine Management warning light) - not required, unless connecting to a 3dr loom.

L8 Engine Loom.
ground = brown
battery = red or red/blue
ignition switch = black
fuel pump = black/red
rev counter = green
The brown/green wire is not required as it is for the fault light relay on the L1 or the air con on the L8.

thanks,
Manoj

The fuel pump should prime when the ECU is powered up an (An exception to this is if the car is hot sometimes it will not prime) If not this is a good clue that a signal has not been received from the CPS thus you would also have no spark as well.

Also is it running a YB? In other words do you have the correct trigger wheel it should have 4 lugs, anything else and it won't work.

hi,fuel pump runs on ignition & i have a 4 lug trigger wheel. one thing that does seem odd is that the coil is showing a constant 12volt discharge not the usual 50000 ! ive orderd new crank & phase sensors plus ignition module and coil but i cant understand why they should of failed when the engine ran in the sapphire, trial by substitution seems a bit of a cop out though !!

If the pump primes then a signal is being received from CPS so that is working, check the ignition amp is connected ok, you should also have +12V at the back wire on the coil when ignition is switched on. You can't really measure the output of the coil as this is many thousand of volts using a meter etc, you don't have an output at coil (Or a good one) otherwise you would have a spark, did you measure elsewhere?
