It will make it run 6C cooler than a 88C, it WON'T protect the engine any better, even on the hottest day of the year, it might buy you a few seconds more before it overheats, heat of 88C does not kill engines, I run 88C all year round, it's just another con imo.

Yes ... much better heat control if you combine it with a uprated fan SW ... before it took ages for the fans to cool it down when hot ... but now fans starts up a bit earlier and the fans runs a lot less .. so if you ask me it's

You are missing the point, the new "super" switch has MUCH less hysterisis(range) so has a lot less heat to get rid of before the switch clicks open(off), 6C difference on a stat won't do a thing to stop a engine from overheating, if it's cooling system etc is in order 88C is fine even in summer.
The "problem" is the oe "cosworth" fan switch, changing this alone would be a better idea than the stat for a 82C one.
Normally on cars the cycling occurs only over a 3-5C range, my own cossie fan switch measured from memory 11C, which added to the age of the wiring and other issues causes many problems.
My fans come on at 95C and go off at 92C(ecu controlled), this 3C drops takes around 1 1/2 minutes sat still even on the hottest day, have left my car idling in 28C sun for over an hour outside mates unit, wasn't fussed at all, even though the 2wd cooling system is not anywhere near as good as the 4wd is.

I know a few peeps using it on track cars, some with serious bhp, heard nothing but good about the REDLINE one, they all use the same(redline) so can't comment about any others, but they say makes a decent difference.
