focus 1.8 zetec power loss problems.
bought my focus less than two weeks ago, was driving fine until yesterday when i went over a large speed bump, there was a loud bang and suddenly i'd lost nearly all power. the revs dropped, the car's stuttering and chugging like it's about to cut out and theres almost no acceleration. struggling to get 30 mph out of it. i wasn't going fast but this speed bump felt a lot bigger than the others. can anyone help?
Sounds like something electronic as it was a severe bump it may have set something off as it simulates an impact, the first would be the inertia switch for the Fuel Pump but then the car would run have stopped altogether by now.
You could try resetting the ECU, you can do this by either disconnecting the battery for a while or by pulling a 1A fuse in the the engine fuse box this protects the KAM (Keep alive memory)
