M8'S GOT STAGE 3 2 W/D SAFF HE RUNS IT ON CHAMPION 57C'S HE HAS DONE ABOUT 600 MILES(HE DOES LIKE TO RAG IT ABOUT) AND HAS HAD TO CHANGE THE PLUGS 3 TIMESNOT JUST 1 PLUG WITH NO TIP BUT 3 EVERY TIME)SO HE'S A BIT WORRIED WHETHER THE PLUGS ARE NO GOOD FOR HIS CAR OR WHETHER SOMETING ELSE IS CAUSING IT!ANY SUGGESTION I COULD PASS ON TO HIM?




I USE 57C IN MINE WITH NO PROBLEMS THOU!

 

get the injectors cleaned, that might help.

 

My first 2wd Sapph used to eat a plug almost every time I drove it hard.

In the end it looks like the head had been skimmed far, far too much and it was therefore running quite high compression and perhaps I ran a touch too much boost also, so every time it was held flat in 4th & 5th it would just get hot and blow the plug apart.

Sounds like his car needs sorting, but at least it's the plugs that are the weak link and are blowing - if he was running NGK 9's the plugs would probably be fine but something more serious might fail

Stu,yes m8! it depends on how hard he's driven it if not about 1/2 @ least!as said above this is his 3rd set in a short amount of miles!Ive told him not to drive(hard till he sorts it) as next time it could be alot worse than spark plugs!CAR HAS GOT ABOUT 150 COMPRESSION ON ALL 4 CYLINDERS|(No3 HAS 145) if that helps @ all! boost is set @ 22psi!

If the tips have come off hows he cleaned the metal bits out of the combustion chamber spec as its been a few times now

 

HE'S HAS HAD IT SORTED NOW WITH NO VISABLE SIGNS OF DAMAGE! (IT WAS RUNNING 1.5 ON TICK OVER)REGARDING THE TIPS HE MUST BE 1 LUCKY FCUKER!
