oil leak on saph cos
Evening fellas.
Ive got an oil leak on my saph cos. Looking underneath oil was dripping onto the starter motor so i took it off an i think the culprit is the oil feed hose which goes from the side of the block to the turbo. Oil is coming from the union at the end of the hose.
Is this a common thing, do i need to be concerned that its happened.
Next question. what is the larger nut type thing that the oil pipe is screwed into which is screwed into the block. And is the thing on the top of this is it the pressure sensor?
lastly i have unfastened the oil feed at the turbo in anticipation of getting a new hose. How the f@@k do you screw a new on in as i had to grind down the shoulders of an 18mm spanner to get the old one off?
Oh and where can i get a new one from?
Thanks for reading

Can get a new one from ebay, or AS auto specialists, advertise in ford mags etc.
I doubt it is the pipe, much much more likely to be the dreaded oil pressure switch, that is the one with the wire going to it on the oil fitting on the end of which is the oil feed pipe.
Look at the top of the block above the oil pressure switch and the sides by it, is it totally soaked ?, if it is it will be the switch leaking comes out with a force, new one is about £12-£15.

Hello mate.
The reason i think its the pipe is i took the pipe off the oil fitting, when i put it back on i got a dribble of oil come through where the braided hose meets the pipe union.
Ive heard that the oil pressure switch can be problematic but i didnt quite understand your description. There is a big 30mm block coming from the side of the engine with the oil feed attached at the end. So is the switch sitting on top of this block? What size spanner doi need for it?
Cheers,

Yes the oilpressure switch is the one that sits on the block, on one of the flats facing upwards normally, I think it's a 22 or 24 for the oil pressure sensor.
