Default Why o why won't it start

Hi All,

I know another issue with starting the car. But all the posts i read dont seem to sound like my problem so here it goes.

When i turn the key the engine turns over for about 1 sec. Then it just makes a whine like noise. like a blowing groan noise. bit hard to explain lol.

It started the other day but would usually start on 2nd or 3rd attempt but now it aint going any where. It works if i get a push start.

I have also noticed a loud knocking noise start about the same time coming from the chargecooler water pump. But then goes away and the pump appears to be working. Related or coinsedance ?

Its probably the starter motor not engaging properly or else teeth damaged on the flywheel.

new starters are around £50 from most motor factors if you are or have a mate who is in the trade
