Default Fiesta MK6 central locking

Hi All,
Has anyone fitted an aftermarket central locking upgrade (to work via transmitters instead of the key) to my daughters 1.4 tdci (2003), i thought that it would be an easy task.....more fool me!
I purchased a TOP locking system and was absolutely gobsmacked with the amount of wires that this system has let alone where to place the control module and locating the Ford central locking.

Can anyone help....?

I want to do this to my other half's TDCi Zetec - but don't want to chop the loom about if I can posssibly help it.

I'm going to investigate getting the GEM off of a higher spec model with remote locking and fitting that. As the remote pickup is built in it should hopefully give me remote locking with a standard 3 button Ford key...

Cheaper that a third party alarm too

Hi,

Realise this is an old topic but if you fit a GEM from a car with central locking it will work 100% guaranteed. I have done this to my Fiesta, and successfully to a newer Fiesta (all just so happen to be 1.4 TDCi's as well).

Hi,
Well i suppose thats a ray of light....pardon my ignorance but whats the GEM? Do i have to cut any wires or is it plug n play? What spec of car will i have to salvage the part from?
Thanks

GEM (Generic Electronics Module) this is the computer in charge of all the generic electronics such as the light chiming when the doors opened etc.

It should be a plug and play job so long as it is a case of simply replacing it you just plug the connector in.
