First post having just picked up a 1999 Focus 2.0 Ghia - Car has the 5000 Ford Radio/Cassette head unit with 6 disc CD Changer under passenger seat. When the CD is selected on the headunit it dispays "CD Error E5" - disc cartridge ejects ok, there is power to the changer etc.

Anyone have any idea as to the error message meaning ? Is it fixable ?

The errors are listed in the Ford Audio handbook.

I'm looking to get one via EBay or wherever very soon.

Just wondered if it was a simple fix or not worth bothering with.

 

Hi, new poster here...
The Audio Guide does indeed show the Error Codes, CD Error E5 shows an internal fault, refer to Ford dealer.
I've got a Sony 6-disc changer...which has been in for about 7 years but the error code only appeared about a month ago after I installed a new Battery...anyone got any ideas?

 

I should have added that the disc cartridge will not eject

Try emailing Ford with the serial no, if a dealer visit doesn't help...you might need the removable front panel if you go to a dealer.
