appolgies to "Tim" for blaitantly nickin his pic but when i saw it, it reminded me n too cold to crawl about in garage at this time to take me own pic...

car was xr3i now its a turbo so not sure if this is due to the wire change but on mine there is two brown wires goin into a plug but not plugged into anythin just sat there and next to that comein through the same grommet is more brown wires not appearing to have any plugs but runs off to o/s of car n joins rest of loom... should there be somethin on the plug?? n what does it do cheers Ric.

 

Kind of looks like the wires for the fuel pump, not to sure if they should all be brown, brown is normally ground, and for the pump to run it would need a feed from the pump relay and a ground.

As for the other wires near by, they should be for the fuel gauge sender in the tank.

Best to have a word with Mr Haynes manual, if you dont have one then drop me a line and I will take a look at mine

i have 1 but mr haynes never included the rs conversion into a 3i so wasnt sure if it was summot sum 1 had done or supposed to b like that...

The plug is attached to the fuel level sender (earths)... but IS NOT for the fuel guage BUT the optional fuel computer which plugs straight onto any RST loom at the dash also, aswell as a speed sensor on gearbox and a special fuel line.
