Alternator help please.
Hi all.
Had a problem with battery light flickering. Checked the alternator and there is a single wire that has been cut. It's marked D+ but cannot figure out for the life of me where it connects.
Can anybody please explain or got a pic of where it should go. I've got a Rs mfi engine.
Thanks

What he ^^ said, without this you will have no charge, this excites the field windings that starts the charge process, it's the earth from the warning light, when charging thats why the light extinguishes as two lives(It would charge if revved hard enough as well) It's just snapped as they commonly do you should find the connector on the back of the alternator still. Best bet is to use a ring connector and a nut and use another piece of wire to connect again to the blue wire.

Just in case it might ever be useful, if you tap a 12v feed onto the D+ it will start charging if engine already running, not needed after this, saved me grief a few times on hols with mates, just crawled under car wrapped wire and taped up and the post a wire that went in the car, used to plug into ciggy for live whilst starting then unplugged.
