Esc S2 Tailgate Lock Removal
Hi Guys,
I'm pulling my unfinished S2 project out the garage at the weekend and the first thing to tackle is the tailgate lock, its locked and I haven't got the key for it, as the tailgate was replaced it didnt use the ignition key etc.
So, how to remove a 'locked' lock out of the tailgate, can I dismantle it from inside the boot or do I need to get the drill out ?
If the lock itself is out, can I use a solenoid kit in its place with a blanking plate or do I need a lock inplace to use one?
Thanks for the help,
Al

you can dismantle it inside out..
simply remove the backing locking bars, unclip(or slide down forget exacttly) the lock backing plate and the lock will fall out onto the floor
You can use a solonoid as fitted to ghia models etc, but another way is to use the mk3 fiesta/mk5 boot realse setup

To get the tailgate unlocked, just go in from the back seat and move the lever on the back of the lock to the other side. The button will work as normal.
Then, remove the central locking rods if attached, pull the u-clip from the back of the lock and then remove the barrel. Replace with your one and refit accordingly. 3 minutes, tops.
