There are some reliability problems known with this engine, which is also used by Citroen and Peugeot. I wouldn't chip it.

Default programable ecu tdci

hi I use this engine in a single seat race car prototype with a programable aftermarket ecu plug and play it responds well and no reliability problems although the engines need good sevicing with regular oil changes have heard of quite a few road cars throwing rods anyhow I had the race engine at 165 bhp but backed it off to 125bhp and 207ft/lb of torque and has been spot on in testing

the engine is in loads of pugs and citroens as a hdi 1.6 the turbo's tend to differ even in the ford range some are variable vain types and others normal waste gated types ..vain type has an actuator pointing into the centre of the tubo the gated ones go accros the tubo side to side and my cars focus rs, 4x4 focus, escort cozy to name the on roaders but several other jwrc fiesta 4x4 puma 4x4 focus st170 turbo have a look on google at www.petersonsracingcars.com for the prototype s/s tdci I am building the new chassis at the moment ready to ship out to greece

According to this article both the 1.6 and 2.0 litre diesels are PSA units.
