You would need an ecu with exactly the same numbers.
Ecu's are expensive, so why do you think the ecu is defective?
What seems to be the problem?

Your ECU will work fine it may need a remap due to you having a bigger engine (1.6 original and GTI 1.8) the engine should run though?

hi guys,

the problem is the car is misfiring and putting petrol into exhaust ive threaded the problem already and no1 could seem to help. ive changed plugs, leads, coilpack, crank sensor, lambda sensor and its still at it. Only other option I could see was ecu. the engine does run and was runnin fine up till now so im not sure what wrong with car. As I said I have bought it now but ecu, signal reciever, barrel and key al come as kit I got it for 40 and as being a gti ecu thought it would be better for my engine.
