hi, iv bought a escort mk4 1.6 cvh and the speedo is'nt working, ive tested the my speedo in an rs turbo and the work, and ive also changed tha cale, and the problem is still there
Has anybody got any idea of whhat it might be???

If the cable is ok and the speedo works this leaves the other end of the cable, ie gearbox end, sometimes the teeth on the drive pinion wear, so need to look at this, whilst there spin the cable with your fingers of a drill and you will see the speedo register, if it doesn't spin the other way, going the wrong way will cause no damage.

well ive just taken the pinion out and its worn so i put another 1 in off my bros rs turbo and its striped that 1, so ive looked a lil on tha net and decided the bearing hae stoped working so a new box is needed!

 

Yes if the diff bearings have dropped or become very worn it will do this.
