Default CVH Pistons question

Hi, I started rebuild my '86 1.6 CVH engine, and change lean burn head to the older '84 hemi head. Now I can't choose the right pistons for my engine
Some catalogues have the same pistons for the pre '86 and post '86 engines, at MAHLE catalogue I found three types of piston for 1.6 CVH. Can anybody help me? Whitch pistons I need to use?

All the NA 1.6 pistons pre -86 are the same, carb or injection. Post -86 injection models also use the older type "hemi" piston. This pistons have the raised crown on both sides of the pistons.
The post -86 carburettor engines use the lean burn head and tehy only have the raised crown on one side of the piston.
The third type of 1.6 CVH piston is the low compression turbo piston.

Thanks!
The engine is non turbo.

If I understand correctly -
this is post '86 piston
and this is pre '86

So at the catalogue I foud two types of pre '86 pistons:
1
In-line engine, fuel,
CVH, LRB, EFI
1597 cmі,
77/84 kW (105/115 PS)
9,5:1
injection,
Vehicle:
Escort RS, Escort XR 3i
Orion, Fiesta XR 2i

link to catalogue description - http://www.motorenteile.mahle.com/eL...#spa1398887107

2
In-line engine, fuel,
CVH
1598 cmі,
66 kW (90 PS)
8,5:1
injection,
catalyser,
Vehicle:
Escort XR 3i, Orion

ink to catalogue description - http://www.motorenteile.mahle.com/eL...#spa1398887021

They have the same dimensions, but different compression ratios and catalogue numbers... I'm confused...
Which one I need to install?

Hi ultra,

our catalogue only shows the basic dimensions, hence the pistons appear identical. However, the piston crowns are slightly different designs albeit difficult to tell even if you compare the two pistons side by side. I have an advantage of the the original cad drawings to refer to...

You want the 9.5:compression ratio piston, from memory this is 013 38 xx (xx denotes piston size).

Regards,

MAHLE UK

#2 is totally the wrong piston and has not been used in any cvh pre 86. This is the piston used in the rarer 90ps, KE-jetronic injected, catalytic converter, "eco" model, Escort.
