Default Escort 1.8 engine blown, 2.0 questions

Hi dudes,

this is a second hand question so I will apologise in advance if any details are vague or wrong

I got a call off my mate last night as someone he knows escort has died. I think it is a GTi or similar possibly a mk V, the water pump has supposedly given up causing the engine to poo itself

Anyway the question really is, it has a 1.8 zetec in at the moment, what would be involved in fitting a 2.0 zetec? obviously the engine, but what about gearboxes, loom and ECU ??

Ta very much peeps,

SPUD

your gearbox will bolt straight on. im not sure about the other questions, but i would think you will need the ecu at least

you can stil use the 1.8 ecu.you can't use the 2.0 ecu as the sensors are different or something. The 2.0 will fit, you can use your gearbox. What you will need to do tho is get a power boost valve or get a unichip so the fueling can be set up. a fair few people have done it on http://www.rs20004x4.com/test theres a fair bit of info lurking around there somewhere about dropping a 2.0 in to a 1.8 or 1.6
