injector
when you put a mutimeter on a injector connecter like i have just done, one terminal reads a constant 11 volts and the other terminal reads nothing, when you then turn the engine over should there be a pulse to the one that reads nothing.

Yes the earth side is pulsed but will be to fast for a meter to register as said if thats what your trying to do. If you want an easy test connect a light bulb opposed to injector.

DON'T whatever you do connect a light bulb, injector drivers could be burnt out if the wrong bulb is used, take the rail off with the injectors, disconnect coil and turn over, fuel will spray from any injectors getting the required feed.
A NOID light is the thing to insert, or if you have osciliscope that will easily capture the signal, but most don't have this lying around!!

Yeah as above it will read dead on one side and recive a flashed earth signal to fire the injector . i have a set of noid lights u can borrow if your local to me
still problems, when i put the fuel gauge in the fuel line it whent straight up to 3.5 bar which is spot on,then when i stopped turning it over it dropped of to nought is this correct,or should the pessure hold, the other thing is that when i try to start it the voltage needle on my gauge goes down to nought aswell and then, the needle goes back up to normal when you stop turning it over
what do you reckon

EFI will normally hold pressure better than this, due to the sprung loaded valve, that is the pressure reg closing the flow off, but so long as it is working and maintaining under load, the correct fuel pressure should be ok.
If the volt gauge has been wired to the number 1 position of the ignition switch(accessory) then it will drop out in the start position as the start position cuts power to accessory position normally, rewiring to number 2 pos will make it run 100% of the time but I wouldn't bother.

Why are you talking of something not even related james ?
I've never said manufacturers can't map correctly have I, please show me where ?
Mapping a modded engine is not the same as mapping for a mass produced engine that has to put up with so many variables, if the makers mapping was top notch MSD would have of business, with chips etc, that exploit the less than ideal mapping, oddly enough 92 co incides with cats becoming popular, it was to do with emissions.
What I stated clearly was that a correctly INDIVIDUALLY mapped car will likely show no discernable difference in mpg, mpg and emissions don't always go hand in hand.
Ask stu why the M5 has a ecu that adjusts itself, surely you know more than BMW motorsport, or does this yet AGAIN show there are gains to be had.

reading this thread from top to tail how do you know it isnt a 92 car that needs cat testing?
there can be a great need for closed loop. regadless of mapping, manufacturer's dont fit it for fun.
you clearly said "closed loop isnt needed if mapped correctly" and i disagree.
you always dive in saying its not needed...this thread has nothing whatsoever to do with closed loop and yet your favorite comment pops up again.
lol at "why am I talking of something not even related"...oh the irony
the m5 also has a sophisticated closed loop system, but i guess it doesnt need it? as it is very well mapped
