Hi Guys

I need to replace an electric window switch on my 1996 Escort Ghia which sits in the centre console. I know its an easy swop but don't want to break anything so how do I get at it i.e. what clips off and what screws off etc.

All help appreciated.

Don't know your car but if it's anything like the rest then 99.9% sure you just prise them out using a small screw driver (Precision preferably).

Looking at the item I just bought on e bay, there is a lip all around the body of the unit which would not allow a simple pry out. I think the plastic around it has to be accessed somehow and maybe the clip around the base of the gearstick unclips and there are screws there to lift the base away.

 

put yr fingers in under the gearstick gaiter pull the plastic trim up then put yr fingers under the switch and pop it out unplug wires frpm old switch plug into new switch clip back in clip trim back in job done 5 minutes max
