im hopeing somebody may be help me out.

The car - mk5 xr3i(105) 2.0 180 bhp has cams and wants to rev
Problem - The gearing is all wrong and car feels sluggish.

The car will do 130mph at 6750 in 4th. The current gearbox is in IB5 and possibly the original XR105. I have the numbeers from the top of the gearbox if that will identify it.

I would like a closer ratio gearbox that can make use of the revs. I was wondering about a puma gearbox, ST170, mondeo 1.6 etc.

Could anybody give their feelings on the above, pros and cons.

if it was mine ,cts stg 2 box with rs1800 fiesta ratios , depends on your budget TBH.
some of the boxes you mention will need different clutch/flywheel etc and custom mounts/shifter assy. although you could get a full gearbox/mounts/shifter from a mk5 rs2000 and get a quaife diff fitted.

what else is done to the engine to be 180bhp?
