Default Cosworth tappets

I my 2wd cossie starting to sound very tappety but when its starts to get warm the noise dies down and some one said the oil might need changing or is it the tappets on the way out

this can be bad oil (bad quality, grade, etc.)... try to change oil to recommended one and see how it goes then.

that could be why mine started doing it aswell. i put some cheap stuff in to get me home and havnt changed it since. i know what ill be doing soon then lol

So long as it quietens down when hot it's ok.
You need to use a oil with loads of detergents in it, like most top quality fully synthetics, as these stop the gum and varnish in the oil building up so bad, this is why I flush mine with flushing oil prior to every oil change.
A treat of wynns hydraulic valve lifter lubs can often work wonders on these.

is it ok to use flushing oil in a cossie tabs?! the proper fill up with and flush out stuff and not the one in a can?!

as mines fresh built if its ok to do that would rather start now so no sludge etc builds up!!


Out of interest you havnt said what oils in the car or how long ago it was changed................
