Default engine earth saph 4x4

my car wont start because the engine has no earth(starter wont crank),if i use jump lead from battery negative pole to engine lifting eye,it starts.
where is the earth located?
i have followed the earth from the negative pole of the battery to the crossmember/engine mount and that is o.k but it stops there,so my guess is it has a seperate earth for the engine, question is,where does it start and end?

cheers jim.

The major thick battery earth should be bolted down onto a bell housing bolt, make sure this is very good as if it isn't it can search for earth through the ecu earth points on the plenum cover and fry the ecu.
The other much smaller earth goes onto the little bracket on the edge of the battery tray.

bugger, the previous owner must have moved the thicker 1 to the engine mount bolt which has no continuity to the engine.
