Default Second Hand Diesel Pump

Hi, My ford focus w reg tddi fuel pump is nackered.

I can purchase a second hand 1 for around £200

I have been told if i fit a second hand 1 and even if i get it reprogrammed at ford the pump will not work, ???? is this true?

furthermore i was told if i purchased a second hand pump i would also need to purchase the igniton and door locks from this car so it will work in my car.

Also some garages are looking for around £300 mark to fit the pump and a new timing belt.

How easy or hard is it to fit a fuel pump ? as since i dont start my new job in a 2 months time and money is to tight to mention ( simply red), i will give it a go myself.

All replys will be greatly appreciated
Thanks

At the very least the pump must be coded at the Ford dealer because a part of the anti-theft system is incorporated in the pump. Check with your local dealer if they can code it and if it's possible to code second hand pumps.
