Default 51 mondeo cooling fans

Hi. I was wondering if someone could help me. Ive recently bought a mondeo and yesturday i noticed water trickling from underneath so i got under to see where its coming from and its a little rubber pipe that isnt connected to anything. Ive been told it is the air con overflow pipe, is this right? I didnt have the air con on that day. Also when i turn the engine on, even when the engine is cold the cooling fans are coming on after about 10-15 seconds. Should they be coming on that quick? If anyone knows it would be a great help. Thanks

where abouts underneath is the little pipe your talking about?? NO it wouldn't be dripping if you haven't had the air-con on,the fan switch is more than lilkely to be knackered which is causing the fans to come on straight away!

There is no overflow pipe for the air con, it is a sealed system, there is a drain pipe however to let moisture out that collects when used, this collects under the evaporator, that is the bit in the heater unit, so will be under there position wise dropping onto the floor.
The fans are a concern coming on like that, they shouldn't they can however if it has logged a major fault in the ecu, so I'd get it checked for codes.

Thanks guys, i will get the fans looked at. The pipe is underneath the car near the middle just above the exhaust pipe. Its like a little u bend rubber pipe that doesnt lead to anything and its dripping out of there.

Yep that certainly sounds like the evaporator drain pipe, normal for it to drip, it actually forms puddles on a hot day under the car when stopped if air con been on.

Hi,
Yes defo get the fans sorted, if you pull off the CTS connector on the stat housing this should immediately bring the fans on in default regardless of temp, as it registers a major fault, resets when plugged back in.

Have you got your heater switch in position 3, as on Focus not sure about Mondeo this automatically switches fans on?

Normally the other reason is air con is on which you say you haven't used.
