Hi, my friend has just done a 2litre conversion on my Mk6 Escort 1.6, he has done lots of these conversions on other escorts but not on an Xreg. We used the engine from a mondeo and the ecu, making sure about the PATS compatability. As i said he has done lots of these before and on first turn of the key it fired up. We switched it off and put the ecu back in position only to find it would start but not idle and stall. After an hour of scratching our heads it fired up and ran perfect with no problems till now. It started to very briefly while on the motorway what seemed like a loss of all electrics, i managed to get nearly home when everything went dead, no electrics to put the hazards on. I did what i needed to do and returned to the car where it started and idled fine, but only for a short time where if i dipped the clutch to stop it stalled. Any help always gratefully received.
