Default bypassing PATS on mk6 rs2000 engine

how do i go about this and is it possible?

the engine turns over but i have no spark and no fuel. im guessing a live to the fuel pump might work, but what about the spark?

im running a mk6 rs2000 engine WITH pats in my mk5 (conversion) but want to bypass/get rid of it. how can i go about it?

I think it is possible but hard. someone was talking about it when putting the Bob 24v scorpio engine in something they use the older Boa granada loom because it has no pats, the pats is so hard to bypass. so you might be better to try a different loom. not sure which one but i'd say a different loom is the quickest way to go.

did they make an rs2000 without PATS tho? im pretty sure the mk5 rs2000 had a different loom? did that have pats? the mk6 engine i have has the ability to have aircon and abs but i dont want them...will that make a diff to the loom?

If it is the pats system at fault or the keys are not programmed then the engine will not crank.

Seeing as the engine is cranking this suggests that the fault is elsewhere.

Check to see whether you have live feeds at the coils or injectors (12v) and check to see if you have a live feed at, for instance, throttle position sensor (likely to be more like roughly 5v). If so the ecu and main power relays are ok and you are getting the power where you need it.

If that checks out ok, then check to see wether you have a switched earth on the other pin of the coil or injector plug you checked for the live feed. If no and the fuel pump does not run on cranking, this suggests a possible crankshaft position sensor issue. The ecu needs the engine speed signal to switch the earths to the injectors and coils and to switch on the fuel pump.

Hope that helps.

no no, dont think you understand, iv done a engine conversion in my mk5 from a 1.6 cvh to a mk6 rs2000 engine. (obv the 1.6 didnt have PATS)

now the rs2000 engine/ecu has PATS but i dont want to run it with PATS. i just want to bypass it.

the engine cranks but obviously the PATS is disableing the fuel pump and the ignition spark. i just want to bypass/remove the PATS so i can run it.

Ah. I smell what you're cooking.

Sorry i misread the post.

in that case i'm not sure how to bypass the pats. I may have been able to work it out if I had a wiring diagram.

The only other (and probably easier and neater) option you have is to get yourself a wiring loom and ecu from an earlier RS2000 and fit that as iirc they also didnt have pats.

hmmmm that might be an option (the mk5 loom) the engines are the same so id assume theyd run the same?

working with what iv got tho, im guessing a live tot he fuel pump will make that work...can i do anything similar to the ignition or is that a no go?

I can't help you with that mate.. i dont have the knowledge to bypass it. i would have just used a different loom. but someone will know how on here. i think it means changing the wiring in the loom you have to bypass it.. i might be wrong though. if it where me i'd try ringing an autoelectrician to see if they have the knowledge. maybe there is an easier way of doing it. someone will help you i'm sure.. i would have thought an older escort without pats would be the loom to go for then have the ecu remapped. not sure if maybe a mondeo 2.0 loom would do it. hope someone helps you out mate. but once they do, put a post up telling us how cus then we will all know.. thanks and best of luck, mat

If you do find out how to bypass pats do not put it on the forum, its because of the pats system that cars aren't stolen as often.
Use a mk5 loom and ecu on the engine will be easiest. If you have the pats chip but it won't start chances are its not wired up correctly but geting wiring info for pats it dead hard as can be only done by ford dealers with a chassis no for vehicle and job number before they can veiw the wiring.
