Default Cosworth ABS

Hi all got a problem with my abs on 2wd saph cosworth. When I go to brake the pedal goes really hard. the car struggles to stop as well(feels like both wheels are looked and it sliding)!!!! then the abs light comes on and the brakes work?

Many thanks

Whitty

Mine used to do that when coming to a stop i think under 10MPH, it pushed the pedal back when there is a fault with the ABS somewhere and turns itself off bringing the light on.

It could be one of your sensors is starting to give up.

I'd clean the abs rings first, and check for any missing/corroded segments.

Yeah as tabetha says, i cleaned all the rings and checked the plugs but that didnt fix mine so i took it to an auto spark and he tested all the sensors and found out one one of them was starting to break down.

Problem was it didnt do it all the time and i didnt want to buy a rear sensor when it migth have been a front one or vice versa

I was talking the other day about MOT and cars like cossie that had ABS to start with, but which didn't work, as it had been removed, very interesting from the testers point of view.
That being it would pass(all else being ok) IF the WHOLE of the abs had been removed, right down to the rings on the driveshafts, always wondered about that one.

Putting a digi meter on there, you will see a on/off state as the wheel turns, then check resistance of each sensor.
I've got a slightly dicky ring(on the car!!) that has a damaged tooth and it sometimes misses and flicks up the abs light briefly.
