Default cossy help

can anyone help. i'm building a pug 205 with 4x4 cossy running gear, all the drivetrains in, i need to wire in the lambda sensor, but i have wires coloured red, white and black on the sensor and different colours on the loom? also i can't get it to spark, i have power going to the coil but no spark from the coil, would this be coil, ignition amp or a bad earth??
any help appreciated, also i was wondering because i hav'nt connected lambda sensor yet would this stop the car from sparking?
cheers
stu

having no lambda sensor will not affect anything, except that it won't run in closed loop mode.

i would suspect the ignition amp first, but there's other possibilities like crank sensor, phase sensor etc.

for technical tips on lambda sensors, see here: http://fpuk.co.uk/technical/tips.htm

for fitting, see: http://fpuk.co.uk/pdfs/Lambda.pdf

check the crank sensor on the front crankshaft pulley there should be a gap of half to one mm between the pully lugs and the sensor, the lambda sensor wont cause a problem unless the ecu is a p8 from an escort cosworth, will check wireing diagrams later post up the colour codes

for the lambda sensor the loom colours are as follows
brown and white = lambda sensor signal to ecu at pin 2
brown = sensor earth to chassis or engine block this wire also provides an earth for pin 1 on the ecu
black = this is the sensor supply for its internal heater and is switched via the ignition switch
as far as the sensor wire colours are i,m almost sure the red is the heater supply, the black is the signal to the ecu and the white is the earth

no joy, i connected the lambda senosor and checked the crank sensor gap and still no spark, i'll have to try a different ignition amp and coil now

no mines a level 8 mate, thanks tho, does anyone know of anything else i could have missed, i know i hadn't connected the air hose to the map sensor but this shouldn't stop it sparking should it? also can someone tell where all the earth connections are on the engine, i have an escort engine and engine loom and a sierra 4x4 ecu loom, when i put ignition on i can hear the fuel pump prime and the amal valve click, so i think i have all the right feeds but am maybe missing an earth??, soz for the long post
