Default throttle position switch?

hi, slight problem.....when coming to a standstill at junctions or when i put my foot on the clutch the revs rise to about 1500rpm or so and stay there for about 5-10 seconds before eventually settling to normal. also sometimes the revs will rise themselves and then drop ( when idling ). you can notice the problem when just sat there and blipping the throttle quickly, instead of the revs quickly rising and falling, they rise but stay there for a while before eventually falling. also there can be slight hesitation when driving on light throttle. i have a feeling it could be the throttle position switch. i cleaned out the iscv last week.any help would be grweat guys before i visit the local fraud garage for new parts.

As far as i know the throttle position swith should be set up so as soon as you touch the throttle you shoudl here a click. Sounds like the mixtures need setting up to me though or you have an air leak somewhere.

Cheers
Dave

i've just replaced the ICV, throttle position switch and getting a "new" MAF sensor and this will/has eradicate (sp) problems like you've decribed. also, i fitted new plugs and air filter to help things along. throttle switch cost me over £50 new from Ford btw
