when they go is it possible to repair them your self?
I'm looking at a saff which the turbo seals have gone it's a t35 turbo if it's not a diy job what sort of money is it to have done.

They don't have seals, they have a snap ring, that has a gap, so oil can/does leak past this, but you can have a step gap seal put in, or drill the ring to create some pressure there which helps to keep oil in.
If there is play the bearings will be shagged if anymore than VERY slight up/down, and in/out is a rebuild.
Prices vary a lot so shop around, CR Turbo's and Turbocentre are very good, there are many others these two just spring to mind.
