Default focus st 170 question

my mates looking at buying a focus st 170 over the next couple of days and i was just wondering if there timing ghain or belt ,and what sort of intervals does the chain have to be changed!! if it is a chain!

belt - it's based on a 2.0L zetec. change is supposedly 100k i think but most do it every 35 to 50.

thanks bud was just wondering as i rang 1 up and i asked him if the belt had been changed and he told me it was a chain!!!!

Its definately a belt and ford recommendation is 100k or 10years

That's for the belt (100k) but tensioners have been known to let go well before then. I'd say if it is over 60K miles then change it to be on the safe side including tensioners.

I always do them every 25,000 or three years, whichever is soonest.
