Default Cold start up - non idling

Hi all,
I have an annoying problem that is most probably easy to fix.......... but I don't know what's buggered to fix it!

When I start the car from cold I have to sit in it (freezing my ass off!) with my foot on the throttle until it's warm enough to tick over itself.......

........... please help o wise ones!

Cheers, Nik

i would say, have a look at your idle speed control valve, changed mine too recently for not idling like it should

Cheers for the help guys!
I've removed it, is there any way to check it's functioning (apart from cleaning & replacing)?

if you take it out and leave it connected, and get someone to turn the ignition on or start the engine (block the hole in the throttle body!) you should see the core moving in the end.
If not, don't just assume it's the valve - may be the wiring or ECU
