Default 300bhp Cosworth advice

Hi,

Have got a very clean 2wd Sapphire Cosworth currently running an old Brooklyn Motorsport Phase 0 260bhp conversion.

Want to go a little further and just want a nice, untemperamental, nice sounding, quick road car circa 300bhp but not looking to spend a fortune. Car is a weekend toy. Engine is fit and healthy and has Mongoose exhaust, GP A Cone filter, Bailey dump valve and Samco boost hoses. Also has Koni adjustable suspension and Tarox discs.

Looking to go Bayoo stage 3 chip, 803 greens, 3 bar Map, -31 Actuator with boost of 20-21psi and would have it set up properly. Do not want the expense of new ECU, T34 or bigger intercooler (yet). Realistically, is 300bhp possible with the above spec. utilising standard T3 and intercooler. Also, is engine breather kit needed at these outputs.

What are your thoughts ? Any other or better suggestions how to achieve reliable 300bhp ish with standard ECU, T3 and 2wd intercooler ?

why does it have to stay on standard cooler? A cheap 4x4 one is a good upgrade over standard 2wd.

Have you thought about a Norris Gunship?

yes 300hp is easily obtainable with the above spec; however as big urn states you will need a 4x4 intercooler - the rest is fine as it is. the 4x4 cooler is slight deeper than a 2wd cooler, but is alot better

i would always recommend getting a aftermarket engine breather on a standard engine as quite frankly the standard item is crap

300hp on a t3 will be a very punchy road car and is a good set up

i had a MSD (motorsport developments) chip in my 2wd and it was brilliant, wouldnt use anything else

if you havent already you need to rewire your fuel pump for a direct feed from the battery, this is a MUST for all cossies

its easy to do, i have a wiring diagram if needed

Matt

Thanks for the replies. Good point about the 4x4 intercooler and will look to source one. So many owners must upgrade to alloy units that there must be loads about in people's garages. If anyone's got one please let me know and I'll happily buy it.

Have moved on with this now. Have ordered Stage 3 kit from Woodford Garage with Bayoo chip and also have bought Bailey breather and swirl pot. Going to get it set up at M.A. Developments who I spoke to this morning. Should be a fun road car !

Matt. Would be interested in the wiring diagram. Is it emailable ? If so, email is djsar@ukonline.co.uk

Do let me know if you've got a 4x4 intercooler. Thanks. Damon 07770 784970

yes Pete bud, in my opinion anyhow. i've seen 9v at the pump before on idle, imagine what that would drop to while on boost!

the problem is wiring deteriates over time, which means you lose current etc. considering some cossies are 20+ years old now alot of the looms have seen much better days.

i'd always say to everyone to rewire their fuel pump for a direct feed from the battery
