Default Cosworth starter motor spares

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can buy spare parts for my Cosworth starter motor?
Have just stripped it down the brushes are worn out, anyone know if you can buy new ones?

Thanks

You can get just the brushes on their own, failing that you can use others and cut to size, I have used washing machine brushes on starters before now with perfect results, but only when really stuck, was on a old renault.
Any DECENT auto lecky place should be able to help, but in all honesty it's hardly with the effort these days, as with recon you get warranty, plus new bearings bush solenoid etc, just something to consider.

The only time I replaced the brushes on a starter, the starter failed completely a month later, requiring replacement.

Worse still, it was on a 205 Gti, have to remove manifold, replace gaskets etc. to get to starter

Just buy a shiny new one mate. I've got 2 2nd hand Cossie starters in my kitchen, wish I'd just bought a new one instead of first wasting money on used ones that turned out to be shit.

Hi all,

Thanks for the replys, think I will invest in a new one. There are some new ones on e-bay for £40 + delivery so think I'll go for one of these.
