Default Replacing housing t3 > t34 on 4x4 saph

Ok, just searched throguh 9 pages trying to find the answer to this but no joy. Basically, how do i get the front housing off? iv undone and removed the 4 bolts on the rear, but now the housing just spins. Do I need to use a bit of gentle force, or am I tryong to take the wrong part off?

the main compressor housing is held on by (normally) 6 bolts, i think the 4 bolts you are refuring to is the bolts for the back plate to bearing housing.... if those bolts are removed, the whole compressor housing and back plate will spin but wont come away as the compressor wheel will have to be removed as its in the way.... if you remove that you will have to get it rebalanced..... hope that helps?

Ok,i'm starting to lose faith now. I managed to take the compressor housing off my t3 (4x4 sapphire) and tried fitting the compressor housing from my t34, but the housing is too big for the backing plate, and also it wont fit over the turbine wheel. The t34 is off a 3dr (bought off rsnissan off here) can somebody please tell me what im doing wrong!

Default t34

i think both the backplate and compressor wheel are larger on the t34.i am looking for a t34 compressor cover with the original actuator bracket in place if you ARE interested in passing it on

Id like to be able to use the t34,but will bear you in mind mate. My understanding was to 'create' a t34.48 all you have to do is remove the t3 compressor housing and replace it with one from a t34? I was led to believe that the turbine wheel and shaft were all the same size, as are the centre bearing housings?

no there not at all!! lol the whole t34 compressor housing, compressor wheel and compressor back plate are different sizes to the std t3... it should all bolt up to the centre bearing housing ok and the comp wheel to the turbine shaft ok tho! just remember that the second you have so much as moved the centre nut it will need re-balancing, be careful not to bend the shaft when loosening to nut and some turbos have a left hand threaded centre nut.... hope that is of some help

Hi Mate....

It`s the REAR housing(Exhaust) you have to swap to make a T34.48.....

Leave the front end of the T34 as it is and swap the rear housing from the T3 onto the T34 to make a T34.48

The T3 has a AR of .42, the T34 has a AR of .60, so needs the whole lot changing on the compressor side, the CORE/bearing housing is the same from T3 T34 T4, the T34 is normally used with a larger turbine housing, but doesn't have to be, mine is a T3/34 with just the T34 trim in a machined out T3 compressor housing, so it gives more flow but reduces lag compared to a T34 housing.
So the compressor housing and the trim and the backplate are all different on a T34 versus a T3, the housing in particular, as it has a much larger air entry, but does narrow down to same size almost as T3 as it approaches the end of inlet air.
