escort cosworth battery got the wrong battery in my car rang up ford and they dont know what battery fits it so could u tell me what battery to use and the code on the battery cheers

Assuming it's still on the FORD type terminals then 085 std.
If it is later or converted ROUND POST then it is 065.
There are of course heavy duty versions of each type, in the traditional ford type terminal ones the sierra/escort can be used with a 092 or 097 as a heavier one, I have the 097, Varta Blue, anywhere from £45/ish delivered to well over £150 for top range AGM.

Varta do a range of batteries all with the same fitment.
They stopped making the FORD type terminals a little while ago, but there is still stock out there to be had, others still make ford terminal ones though, and even handbuilt batteries are no problem.
If you ever need to get a round post one, then you can simply buy the convertors to take the ford terminals from leads about £2.50 a pair.
