Default changing ignition/locks (1996 Escort)

My cabby only came with 1 key, and that was worn flat and took ages to get the car started as I had to get it in the exact right angle. I got a set of 3 cut and chipped and Timperleys, but still isn't exactly right, but only takes a few seconds now to get started.
My question is, i've seen some key and lock auctions on ebay , but what exactly would need to be replaced for it to work. I have another alarm system installed too (Cobra I think). Would this mess things up?

Or should I go to a proper auto electician and get it done correctly?

chipped keys equal immobiliser u either need to have the car reprogrammed to new chipped keys or take the key reader off tape the old key inside it then u can fit whatever lockset u get but u wont have a standard immobiliser hope this helps wont make any difference to your alarm
