ok i know the engine in my xr3 aint standard but i want to know what its from or what bits came from where.
the alternator wiring has both plug and the eyelets ???? (yes i know the wirings been bodged but what should be on the engine)
i dont know what type of distributer should be on it as both plugs were on the loom however the bit on the distributer was broken so we removed it and soldered the wires onto the contacts
there are hoses blocked off
i dont think the inj system is the correct 1 for car
so any help as the car is backfiring like **** but when it goes its far from slow (car was running fine then started backfiring and the alternator chucked it too )i replaced the alternator with a 2nd hand 1 (same type as was fitted and doesnt push enough to power the car so i need to know if its the wrong alternator or just another fu**ed one

looks like someone has tried to tune your 3i using rs turbo injection setup. can't think why though
looks like ke-jetronic but obviously you haven't got the turbo. it's definitely not the correct injection setup for your car. especially as you have the air intake running over the engine ( it's like this on rs turbo's but the air is compressed ) if i were you i'd get hold of another 3i ( probably get a crap one for £100 ) and swap everything back to how it should be, including inlet manifold, alternator, and all wiring.
