Default Remote locking

Hi guys, im new here but i was looking around and it seems a very helpful forum.
Ive been having a problem with a remote locking kit that i bought, these are the instructions i got with it:

Ive been using the top diagram however when i connect the yellow and yellow/black wires the locks start to lock and unlock. I also do not know what the common line is. Unfortunatley i do not have any wiring diagrams so ive been using forums and any advice anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

ok well your common should be a positive from the battery it's called common cos it can be either + or - depending on the cars electrical system, so your yellow and yellow/black wires should be connected together and then put on a constant fused live from the fuse box so when u turn the car off the central locking will still work , then u need to find the wires comin from your key lock in the drivers door cos these wires are wot send the signal to your locking module find out witch wire does locking and witch unlocks with a multi meter and tap onto them with the white wire onto the lock side and the white/black wire onto the unlock wire, don't cut them otherwise your key won't work if u ever want to lock it that way, cut out n tape up the orange n orange/black wires so u can't get a short, and as far as i can see it should work, your best bet is to get a haynes though cos it'll have all the wiring diagram's u need and will tell u where to find the right wire behind the dash makin the fitting soo much neater and less hassle havin to take door card's off n trim, n if your keeping the car a while it will help u no end, with other mods n maintenance.

i'v not worked on fez's n no new ford's niether so i'm only goin off wot i no from my esco's i can't see it bein changed that much so i just hope i'v been able to help

yea the unit is split into 3 curcuits, the red wire is power to the unit itself for your remote to work and boot release n so on, then the last 6 wires from the yellow/black to orange wire are 2 seperate cucuits an unlock curcuit and a lock curcuit that's why u have to put the yellow/black wire and the yellow together other wise only the unlock or lock side would work, oh Yea n i would advise u to put a fuse on the Y/B n Y wires if your taking the power from an unfused source just incase there was ever a problem it'll stop your car setting itself on fire

i dunno to be honest mate if it's all wired up like it's stated it should work, unless you've blown summit inside the box before hand because they can be quite sensetive to bein wired wrong, or is the door open when your trying this cos you might find the doors won't lock if there open but the unit is trying to lock once powered up, but i'd advise to be sitting inside the car whilst you do this just in case, other than that mate i'm exhausted with ideas, unless the chip i guess u'll have inside the key is needed for the remote locking to work i'd phone up ford n ask them if your model of car would be compatible with a remote locking unit

Thanks anyway, it should do as ive seen guides written for it, it must just be due to the fact i was a bit cheap, lol.

Ill look into finding one with a good name etc, there is no name on this one or company to contact, thats how cheap it is.

Thanks for your help anyway
