mate of mines got a focus diesel estate that intermitantly loses power and stalls. the car is on a t reg and is a 1.8. i think its a mechanical pump diesel not common rail, i havent looked at the car yet but wondering where to start, was going to start by looking at the boost hoses.

If it was mine the first thing i would be changing would be the fuel filter.

 

FIRST THING I WOULD CHANGE WOULD BE FUEL FILTER, THEN HAVE A LOOK AT THE BOOST PIPES. sorry for caps on

 

sounds good, the cars done 150k so that would make sence if it hasnt been changed. cheers fellas

 

Well its done well for 150.000 n its never had the filter changed. My mate did a fuel filter on a tdci focus and it was a nightmare to bleed.

 

fill the filter up with new diesel before refitting it then it should be alright if you leave it idling for a little while
