Focus RS Quaife ATB Problems...
As per title everyone - I'm currently building a MK3 Fiesta with a 2.3 Duratec-Turbo engine.
I'm using the MTX75 from a MK3 Mondeo 2.0 Duratec but have installed the Quaife ATB from a Focus RS gearbox - I did try to mate the FRS 'Box to the Mondy Duratec bellhousing but Ford changed the bolt pattern of the late MTX75 Gearbox casings so the FRS 'box won't bolt to a Duratec MTX75.
Difference in bolt pattern bellhousing-gearbox casing Zetec & Duratec MTX75's:
More obvious now!!
Basically the problem arose when I attempted to fasten the bellhousing down with the Quaife fitted (I had removed the shim from the diff bearing and re-fitted the bearing without the shim in order to check end-float). The Diff was held so tightly that it can't turn!
I know the FRS 'box was the only MTX 75 to have the thin metal gasket installed, was this beacause of clearance issues with the Quaife?
I've emailed this query to Quaife but any help/knowledge anyone has here will be much appreciated!
Regards, Jim.
