Default fiting a knock sensor into the block...

does the sensor have to screw right in to the block so the back face of the sensor is touching the block, or is it a case of a tapper and just screw in till it gets tight ish?... the sensor looks slightly tappered....

cheers

it doesnt have to go all the way into the block. Has the sensor got some type of lock tight on the threads. If you put the sensor in to tight it will damage the inside of the sensor.

for the sensor to work correctly it's important to preload the sensor by torquing the fixing bolt to the correct torque for the sensor. It needs to be snugly bolted up to the block but not overtight to deform the sensor.
