How long does it last till it goes pop or will it go forever? Is the only cure to re build it?

 

My cossie had piston slap & it still went really well & didn't go bang, only had the rebuild because the headgasket went again & it was embaressing starting it up from cold as it rattled away for about 5 mins. They can last for years with piston slap, just use a bit of oil & rattle when cold.
