Hi Guys
I bought a sat nav recently and can't charge it through my 12V power outlet on my dash of my 2007 Fiesta. Nothing happens at all, it's not outputting any power.
A few months ago I used to use this socket to charge my phone on the way to work without any problems, then one day it just stopped working.
I blamed a cheap phone cable and never gave it a second thought.
Now I have purchased a sat nav which I can't use as I can't charge it - and I go on holiday in 2 weeks!
I'm praying that it's something simple like a blown fuse - does anyone have any ideas?
I'd be very grateful!
Thanks
Martin

Do you smoke ?, if so it could be crud in the holder, very common, if not just have a look at fuses, then if no joy test with a metre/light to determine whether earth or live is missing, be careful when testing for live, which is the centre bit, not to touch the holder bit as this is earth, and will pop a fuse.
Check to see if anything else has stopped working as the ciggy lighter is not normally the only thing on the circuit, of ten a clock is also as it needs constant supply, if needs be can always tap into this.

like tabetha said, very common to pop fuses, open up the cover which is just under your light controls, pop the cover open and look for the fuse, pull the dodgy fuse out, and look in it, there should be a little metal pin goin thro the middle, if its broke replace the fuse with the same rated fuse, and away you go, thats the first point of call checking the fuse then do as tabetha said check the live and earth
